8/8 Pick of the Day: Philadelphia Phillies @ Arizona Diamondbacks 9:40pm EST

Headed to Arizona for today's POTD and today we will target the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks over 9.5 in this one. Tonight, we have a battle of LHP between Philadelphia's Kolby Allard and Arizona's Jordan Montgomery. Allard makes his 2nd start of the season here today against the surging D-backs who have won now 4 straight and are 8-2 in their last 10 hitting .291(!!!). Allard is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 8.0 innings pitched. His last outing came on August 3rd against the Mariners where he went 4.0 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits, 1 home run, 2 walks, and 4 K's. He made his first appearance of the season against the Guardians on July 28th, where he went 4.0 allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, 1 home run, and 1 K. The Diamondbacks are the best unit in the league at hitting LHP this season, with a .279 AVG. We expect them to get to Allard here today at home also, where they have hit .265 this season.

Jordan Montgomery up for the Dbacks in this one. Phillies love a LHP and they get to face one that has maybe been one of the worst starting pitchers in the league this year in Montgomery. He has a 6.37 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. He actually did well against the Phillies on June 21st, just 5 starts ago, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits as Arizona won 5-4. However, the Phillies hit him at .310 in 58 ABs so there is potential there.

With the capabilities of both offenses and some questionable starting pitching we like the over here in this one as we think both sets of offensive units know they will have to bring their A-game today with the pitchers on the mound making this one a high-scoring affair. Take the over in Arizona as we see runs being put up here in Chase Field.
