8/22 Colorado Rockies @ Washington Nationals

8/22 Colorado Rockies @ Washington Nationals 1:05pm EST

Over 8.5 -120 (1u)

This is a matchup between two bad pitching staffs. It’s hard to completely trust each of these offenses, but the pitching staffs are so bad that it might be worth a stab.

Cal Quantrill and Patrick Corbin are squaring off in this one, making this a battle of 2 struggling pitchers. Quantrill has a 4.59 ERA and 1.41 WHIP on the year. He has allowed at least 3 runs in 9 of his last 10 starts. He has allowed multiple Home Runs in back to back starts. The Rockies bullpen has also been bad all year, and prone to giving up a couple runs each game. Look for the Nationals to get some runs in this one.

Patrick Corbin has been struggling all year. Even though the Phillies (somehow) were not able to get after him last time out, we still feel that he is a fade every time he steps on the mound. He has a 5.92 ERA and 1.57 WHIP on the year as he has been roughed up in more starts than not. Against Corbin, this Rockies lineup is hitting .289 in 114 At Bats, with 11 of 33 hits being extra base hits.

The Rockies over their last 10 games are 4-6 and have hit a very respectable .258 average scoring 45 runs on 88 hits. As for the Nationals, they are 4-6 in their last 10 as well and hold a .260 average scoring 38 runs on 86 hits.

Even though the Rockies are not as good on the road, it’s hard not seeing them being able to get after Corbin a little bit in this one. The Nationals bullpen is nothing to write home about, and Cal Quantrill for the Rockies has not been good in his last 5 starts. We are looking for some runs here and believe that we can get them.
