8/13 Pick of the Day: Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks 9:40pm EST

Diamondbacks TT over 4.5 -128 (2u)

After the Padres let us down last night and made Woodford for the Pirates look like Cy Young, we turn to a team that has been excellent to us since the All Star Break and probably the best team in the league right now. The Diamondbacks are 18-5 since the ASB and are batting .291 as a team during this time. On the year, they are hitting at .261, including .272 at home. Last night, they were the only team we bet on that really did anything, cashing out their Team Total with some great plate discipline.

Tonight, we look for more of the same as they face a Rockies pitching staff that we have continued to hammer against all year. Tonight, it's Austin Gomber's turn on the mound again for Colorado as he comes into this contest with a 4.92 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. In his last 12 starts, he has allowed 47 runs on 80 hits and 15 Home Runs. This lack of control and inability to go deep in games is a real problem against teams like the Diamondbacks, who will make you pay. In 101 At Bats against Gomber, this Dbacks lineup is hitting .297 with 30 hits, including 6 Home Runs. Arizona is among the league's best in terms of late game runs (7th inning or later) and when you match that up with the league's worst bullpen by far (5.65 ERA), we really like what we see. In 21 starts this year Gomber has allowed fewer than 2 runs only 5 times. We have to think that with Gomber's overall struggles this year and the dismal state of the Rockies bullpen, that the Dbacks should be able to score some runs tonight and continue their surge in the National League.

It is not out of the question to believe that this line can cash out by the 5th inning here as we get a struggling Gomber who has certainly been torched by this Dbacks lineup, and a bad Rockies bullpen that historically this year has not inspired much confidence. Give us 5 Arizona runs again tonight and let's cash out a line that simply is too disrespectful for the way that they have been playing.
