8/12 Toronto Blue Jays @ Los Angeles Angels 9:38pm EST

Over 8.5 -135 (1u)

We head to Los Angeles where we have identified this matchup as one that has potential to produce some runs. One of our favorite things about this matchup is the pitching on both sides here, we get Bowden Francis for the Blue Jays (5.44 ERA and 1.39 WHIP) vs Davis Daniel of the Angels (6.04 ERA and 1.38 WHIP).

Bowden is more of a relief pitcher but he has been known to pitch 5 innings in some of his starts. Regardless, we think that he can give up some runs to an Angels lineup that really isn’t all that bad with a .250 batting average since the All Star Break. Also, to note, the Blue Jays have the second worst bullpen in the MLB with a 5.03 ERA, and we have seen them let up runs all year. It’s not inconceivable to think that the Angels can put up 5-6 runs in this game.

Davis Daniel for the Angels has not been good overall this year, as his ERA highlights a lack of control. In his last 4 starts, he has allowed 18 runs and is susceptible to some Home Runs, with 4 given up over this time span. The Blue Jays have the ability to put up runs when they have men on base, and we like them to get at least 4 tonight. The Angels also have a bad bullpen, ranked 8th worst in the MLB with a 4.25 ERA.

Combine some struggling starting pitchers with 2 less than desirable bullpens and some capable lineups, and we get what we think is a very solid play in the over tonight in LA.
