8/11 Pick of the Day: San Diego Padres @ Miami Marlins 1:40pm EST

After a relatively easy cash last night for our POTD, we look to the Padres again to score some runs for us against this Marlins pitching staff. A 9-8 Padres win in extra innings secured us a victory as San Diego took advantage of a Miami bullpen that has been somewhat prone over recent weeks. 

Max Meyer gets the starts for the Marlins, as he has a 5.10 ERA and 1.30 WHIP on the year. There is no history between the Padres and Mayer, but in his last 3 starts, he has been tagged, alllwing 13 runs off of 19 hits and 6 walks in just 13 innings. The Padres have scored 15 runs in Games 1 and 2 of this series, and we look for more of the same as they go for the sweep in Miami. We look to the heavy hitters of San Diego like Arraez, Profar, Machado and Cronenworth to do some heavy lifting here as Mayer has been very Home Run prone on the year, allowing 7 in 6 games. 

The key for San Diego will be getting men on base and stringing together some extra base hits, something they have done well all season. For this play, we say, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” as this series has provided us with some value as of late. Give us 5 more Padres ones to cap off this series and let’s hit another POTD unit upgrade.
